Joe was honored for his long-time advocacy for patients with rheumatic diseases; for his leadership in the field of rheumatology, serving with distinction on boards, societies, and government committees; for his publications in the fields of clinical research and medical education; and for his volunteer commitments in continuing medical education, fundraising, and consulting.
